Mesothelioma Treatments
There are three kinds of treatment for mesothelioma: surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. When used as single agents, they are relatively ineffective; however, combined modality approaches have shown some promise in prolonging survival for some patients with early disease. Patients evaluated at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital are offered multiple treatment options. If eligible for surgery, patients will be offered a combined modality approach, including surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. Patients who are ineligible for surgery will be offered chemotherapy. Our most important consideration is to tailor the best treatment for each patient.
