Adenocarcinoma
Adenocarcinoma is the most frequent type and accounts for approximately 45% of all lung cancers. It is derived from the mucus-producing cells that line the bronchi (tubes that lead into the lung). Adenocarcinoma tends to metastasize earlier than squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. Bronchoalveolar carcinoma is a subcategory of adenocarcinoma but is a more slower-growing disease. It has the best prognosis of any kind of lung cancer.
